London Broil French Dip with Au Jus

This London Broil French dip sandwich layers London Broil Roast Beef, Caramelized Onion Jack Cheese, and sweet caramelized onions on a toasted French baguette, served with rich beef consommé au jus for dipping.

Servings: 1 20 min Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 6 oz, thinly sliced | London Broil Roast Beef
  • 1 | 12-inch French baguette
  • 1 c | Water
  • 1 c | Beef consommé
  • 2 oz | Caramelized Onion Jack Monterey Jack Cheese
  • 1/2 c | Caramelized onions

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or lightly grease it.
  2. Cut the French baguette horizontally to split it lengthwise, keeping the two halves attached if possible. Place the baguette on the prepared baking sheet, cut-side up.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the water and beef consommé. Stir until well mixed and bring just to a gentle simmer.
  4. Using tongs, dip the slices of Boar's Head® London Broil Roast Beef into the hot broth for about 3 minutes, or until warmed through. Let excess liquid drip back into the pan.
  5. Arrange the warmed London Broil Roast Beef along the length of the baguette. Top with slices of Boar's Head® Caramelized Onion Jack Monterey Jack Cheese, then spoon the caramelized onions evenly over the cheese.
  6. Bake the sandwich at 350°F for 3–5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the baguette is lightly toasted.
  7. Remove from the oven and slice the sandwich in half diagonally. Ladle some of the remaining hot broth into a small bowl and serve alongside the sandwich for dipping. Enjoy!
